Lithography and serigraphy are traditional art processes used by skilled artists for centuries. Van Gogh, Renoir, Gauguin, Picasso, Cezanne and Matisse are all famous artists who used these techniques.

Lithography is a method by which the original image is drawn backwards onto a treated plate, (usually made of aluminum, stone, paper or mylar) and after a series of water and inking processes, pressed onto the paper. The more colors used by the artist, the more trips through the process.

Serigraphy is a print created by the silkscreen process. Water or oil based paint is squeezed or brushed through a stenciled screen made of silk or other fabric. This creates the image on the paper placed below.

"Technique changes but the art remains the same" Claude Monet

Giclees (pronounced "gee-clayz") are made using a relatively new technique having debuted only in 1985. These are quickly becoming the art medium of the future and are already included it the permanent collection of many museums. Their beauty is no less captivating than any of the traditional methods already mentioned. The images are printed on an IRIS digital printer using water based, nontoxic inks. They have an extraordinary quality to them, and trust Great American Picture Company to be showcasing this wonderful medium and other mediums of the future for you.
