QAD And Strategic Information Group Help Vita-Tech International Boost Responsiveness

Carpinteria & Santa Barbara, CA - QAD Inc., an enterprise software firm, and Strategic Information Group(SIG), a sales agent and service alliance partner, recently announced that Vita-Tech International, Inc. has migrated its enterprise operations to QAD GXE, the Global Enterprise Edition. A custom manufacturer of nutritional supplements, Vita-Tech International said that it replaced its legacy system with a QAD solution that automates and centralizes business processes, improving insight into customer requirements, dramatically reducing lead times and helping make Vita-Tech International a demand-driven enterprise.

With more than 50 years of service to the natural products industry, Vita-Tech International develops and produces nutritional supplements for customers worldwide according to client specification. By implementing a QAD solution, Toni Clubb, chief financial officer, Vita-Tech International estimates Vita-Tech International is able to process 20–30 percent more requests, and more important, has dramatically reduced the quote processing time from weeks to days. The manufacturer says that it receives as many as 100 requests for quotes each week, but Vita-Tech International's legacy system required manual distribution of information and made it difficult to prioritize quotes and respond quickly. SIG designed and implemented the QAD solution to provide automated alerts so that the purchasing department and research and development, for example, can work on aspects of a quote simultaneously.

Validation was another important aspect of Vita-Tech International's QAD system design and deployment. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration requires life sciences manufacturers to validate computer systems by documenting evidence that a specific automated process will consistently yield a product that meets pre-determined specifications and qualities. SIG's validation expertise, coupled with QAD software architecture designed to simplify validation, helped Vita-Tech International complete in just 90 days a process that is believed to have taken more than a year to complete for its legacy system.
