SciQuest Supplier Management Solutions to Enhance University's Purchasing System
Research Triangle Park, NC - SciQuest Inc. announced that East Carolina University (ECU), a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina, has signed a multi-year agreement with the company. ECU plans to complement the NC e-Procurement @ Your Service system with SciQuest's HigherMarkets e-Procurement solution, Supplies Manager and Chemical Manager.
"SciQuest's comprehensive solutions will significantly enhance the SCT Banner purchasing environment at ECU while automatically driving transactions through the NC e-Procurement @ Your Service system," said Charles Hawkins, senior associate vice-chancellor. "SciQuest understands the business needs that higher education institutions face. With the breadth and depth of its supplier enablement capabilities combined with the system's ease-of-use, we fully expect to experience savings while simplifying ECU's entire purchasing process."
SciQuest's solutions enable organizations to integrate e-procurement with and add value to their existing technology investments, such as ERP or financial systems. By adopting a supplier management strategy such as that offered by SciQuest, ECU expects to:
- Increase end-user adoption of existing procurement systems by giving end-users one interface for all purchasing and request needs, including on-campus services
- Eliminate the hassles of managing content or connections for multiple suppliers
- Automate transactions with a broader base of suppliers
- Drive more spend to preferred suppliers and reduce maverick spending
- Improve spend visibility for enhanced spend analysis and reporting to help identify new contract savings opportunities
SciQuest's Supplies Manager will allow ECU to integrate its on-campus storerooms with the same shopping and request portal that the campus uses to buy from external suppliers. This will improve the delivery time of products to end-users and increase customer satisfaction.
SciQuest's Chemical Manager will allow ECU to improve local, state and federal regulatory compliance. Additionally, the university will attain the capability to track ordered items of hazardous materials, from purchase to inventory to disposal, through an easy-to-use interface.
"ECU is a valued component of the State of North Carolina's respected university system," said Steve Wiehe, president and CEO of SciQuest. "SciQuest is honored to provide comprehensive supplier management solutions to this long-established institution. As a North Carolina company we look forward to providing service to other institutions across the state."
