Symphony Consulting To Host Manufacturing Outsourcing Forum Featuring Presenters From SigmaQuest And Arena Solutions

Sunnyvale, CA - Symphony Consulting, a manufacturing outsourcing, procurement and supply chain consulting firm, announced recently that on April 30, 2008, it will host "Symphony Spring Forum: What OEMs Must Control in Manufacturing Outsourcing." The forum's purpose is to educate technology original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) on best practices in manufacturing outsourcing. The format is a combination of presentations and open dialogue, on the topic of what OEMs must control when they outsource manufacturing.

Featured presenters at the event will be experts from SigmaQuest, a leading provider of business intelligence software for the entire product lifecycle that helps global manufacturers build higher quality products and Arena Solutions, the leading provider of on-demand product lifecycle management (PLM) software for manufacturers of all sizes. The forum will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sheraton-Faz Restaurant in Sunnyvale, Calif.

"In order to ensure long-term success in manufacturing outsourcing, OEMs must control key elements that have a direct impact on their business success," said Bijan Dastmalchi, principal at Symphony Consulting. "There is a common misperception that if a product is outsourced, then there is little need for ongoing management of inventory exposure, continuity of supply, quality and price variances at the contract manufacturer. That misperception leads to a variety of failures and missed opportunities. We look forward to co-hosting this educational event along with our valued partners, Arena Solutions and SigmaQuest, and discussing some of these issues."

At the forum, presenters will discuss the key business processes and relationships that must be controlled in outsourcing, how OEMs can measure the performance of their contract manufacturer and what tools can be utilized to maintain control of the supply chain. This forum is a combination of short presentations from supply chain experts, as well as interactive dialogue among the participants through facilitated open discussion sessions.

"We are very excited to be co-hosting and presenting on such an important topic, as I know that our customers could greatly benefit from such an educational forum," said Nader Fathi, CEO of SigmaQuest. "SigmaQuest is able to bring to this forum a vast knowledge of business intelligence expertise and best practices that we can share with this audience of operations, engineering, product management and finance professionals who are directly involved with or impacted by manufacturing outsourcing."

"Companies making the strategic decision to outsource design or manufacturing services face an immediate challenge with far-reaching consequences," said Craig Livingston, chief executive officer at Arena Solutions. "Hundreds or perhaps thousands of activities need to be efficiently orchestrated to stay on schedule and on budget. Unfortunately, this is a complicated process that requires a rock-solid strategy and the right tools to be effective. We look forward to discussing with participants how approaching outsourcing correctly can provide them with significant financial gains."
