Washington And Lee University Selects Unimarket Cloud eSourcing And eProcurement Solutions To Improve Efficiencies For Campus Users & Reduce University Procurement Costs
Annapolis, MD - Washington and Lee University, the nation's 9th oldest higher educational institution, and Unimarket, an innovator in collaborative eProcurement and eSourcing solutions for the sector, are excited to announce the signing of an agreement to implement the complete Unimarket solution from eSourcing through eProcurement and eInvoicing. The result will ensure Washington and Lee provide an easier and less time-consuming way to purchase products and services from all eligible suppliers online.
Washington and Lee University is named for two of the most influential men in American history: George Washington and Robert E. Lee. Their innovative leadership on behalf of the University brought it into the national limelight.
Founded in 1749, Washington and Lee is composed of two undergraduate divisions, the College and the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics; and a graduate School of Law. The undergraduate institution offers 40 majors, 20 minors and more than 1,100 courses—an enviable curriculum for a school of only 1,770 undergraduate students. W&L also features the only fully-accredited business school and fully-accredited journalism program among the nation's top-tier liberal arts colleges.
Even though an institution of smaller stature, Washington and Lee still has the same significant constraint resource challenges to contend with in terms of achieving operational efficiencies and cost control, for a campus whose main mission is education, not supply chain management. While eProcurement has been a recognized and proven means of achieving both objectives for many larger institutions, more recently it has become accessible for many smaller institutions.
The Unimarket approach to the higher education sector "has been a welcomed means of bringing our institution to the latest in online procurement software," said Paul Renzi, the University's Director of Auxiliary Services. "Not only a solution that helps automate internal business processes, but also directly connecting with hundreds of our suppliers for fulfillment."
Steven McAllister, the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer for the University, looks forward to achieving the operational advancements and cost savings that other Unimarket's higher educational clients have achieved. "We have worked through our resident financial and record keeping system to manage these buying operations for the campus, and we have seen that we need to advance to a better way to assist them with these efforts." He added "that we need to take advantage of the 'cloud' technologies like Unimarket that can make the work life easier on a highly decentralized campus while still controlling what we spend our limited resources on."
Scott Blackwood, CEO of Unimarket commented, "Unimarket is committed to public and private independent entities to achieve better results for each student's tuition dollar...We are honored to work with WLU, one of the nations historic institutions and look forward to supporting their drive to bring improved operational efficiencies to their internal customers and many strategic suppliers."
